Well, here we are at 1.30 on a Friday afternoon and pretty much everything at work has crashed. The e-mail system, pay roll system, photocopier and phones are all down – and are unlikely to be back on for at least the next hour - for some reason we have still got Word which leaves me with two options:
- sit around waiting for the system to come up
- blog!!
And oh so much to blog about!
We have now moved! House is fab. Will take photos and post. Admittedly the spare room is still very very yellow – the bricks in the bathrooms are still grotesque and the carpet is grim in the extreme, BUT for the almost the first time in 5 years I can go to the loo without fear of one of my daughters standing in front of me with legs crossed begging me to hurry up because she is desperate; I can shut the door on my washing machine while it’s rumbling away in the middle night – although the door on the actual washing machine is looking a little suspect and one of the hinges has already snapped in two; I have a house guest and I’m not sleeping on the floor in the living room; and the girls are turning into regular little interior decorators in anticipation of finally being able to paint their rooms.
Currently we are in post move chaos. We are having house warming on Sunday which has meant that this week has been spent channelling my energies into clearing the decks in the living room area. I have finally managed to empty or remove all but three boxes. SKY man has been this morning (not for me – Mark nearly deranged after a week without football!) so that now the television can be strategically placed and so can the sofa’s. The remaining packing paper will be flattened and rolled, my sofa cushions will be poofed up, the Hoover will do a circuit or two and then I am going to sit down and look at my new lounge and enjoy a large glass of wine or two!
The only problem with this lovely thought is that in order to get the lounge / dining area into some kind of normality, a huge amount of junk (I use this term loosely!!) has now been chucked into the rumpus – which would be fine except for the fact that Louisa is having her 11th Birthday Slumber Party in there on Friday! As a result, next week will pass in a haze of cake making and junking the garage (which has only just been unjunked!!)! What I don’t quite get is how all the stuff that I’m having difficulty fitting into my new big house ever managed to fit into my little old house!!
I am about to place my order for 27.4meters of 80/20 wool carpet that is a rich deep minky colour;
I gave you the wrong post code by the way – should have been 0627, not 0626 – please amend.
Well, that was all written on Friday 26 January and it is now Thursday 8 February. I'm not quite sure how the two completely unconnected sentences snuck in there - maybe it was because all of a sudden the rest of the system came up, I had to go back to work and so I just slapped them in there while I remembered?
Anyway, carpet now ordered. New hot water cylinder in garage and will be plumbed in some time in the next few weeks and on Saturday Mark and I are going on a bathroom recky! Girls are going to be with John so we should have a fair amount of time to browse and haggle first with each other and then with the merchant!
Which reminds me, the girls are now back at school. Louisa started at Intermediate School yesterday. She is in the 'accelerant' class with most of her friends, in fact most of her class from
Primary. Today they started teaching guitar and Lou has already signed up for dancesport and orchestra. On the academic side, she has her first project to complete over the weekend which will involve John doing some of the egging on!
Becs meantime surprised us all a bit when she was promoted from what was meant to be her year 4 to year 5! She'll still be doing year 4 work but if they have too many in one year they bump the brightest up to the next one. Slightly nervous that all this academic achievement is going to mean I will be performing serious amounts of harassment all year!
Lou has now had her slumber party - the rumpus room was cleared by Sunday. I had been throwing stuff in the rumpus working on the premise that I just needed the top of the house to look nice in time for the Sunday when we were having housewarming bbq. Sunday morning I woke up and remembered that I had about 12 kids that I had promised movies, popcorn and a rumpus to! Serious clearing was done in time for their arrival and I spent all the next week smug in the knowledge that half the preparation for Lou's party was done! We did hang a few fairy lights for her and several cushions and pillows were scattered about for the impromptu pillow fight that Lou had been planning for the previous three weeks! By 7.00 there were six 11 year old girls in the bottom of my house, eating pizza and watching a movie. At 9.00 they had a dancing competition and they weren't asleep till gone 1030. Meantime, Mark and I barely heard a sqeak and played Scrabble in the living room (he won) and Othello - which I won!!
Have to say it, I LOVE MY HOUSE!!
Also quite attached to Captain Yummy Pants - but hey!
Anyway - in an effort to actually be at work on time tomorrow, I am going to cut this short (ha!) and go and make packed lunches for my two little scholars.
In the meantime, have downloaded a bunch of photos to the web. Lou is there in her new uniform and so is my yummy new house! Might even be a couple of CYP! Me not in any I don't think - sorry, I take the photos and am currently far too fat to be broadcast on the net!!

Might post a couple here too as it makes the page look more interesting.
Oh, and why 'All Change'? Someone at work noticed that in the last 2 months I have changed names, changed marital status (now divorcee!!), changed address, changed cars, changed jobs and on 19th February I get a new nationality as well!! Planning on keeping Mark, girls and new house!
Hugs to all - Oh, Fergusons and Blackmans - presents now in hall - coming soon, I promise!
